Angiotensin II (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe | His-Leu) is an octapeptide that is converted from Angiotensin I (AI) through the removal of two C-terminal residues by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), primarily by ACE within the lung (but also those present in endothelial and kidney epithelial cells). Ang-(1–7) is an endogenous peptide fragment that can be produced from Ang I or Ang II via endo- or carboxy-peptidases respectively. [1]
